EERA September 2015 Meeting

The Etowah Education Retirees Association met September 10, 2015 for the first meeting of the school year. Sixty-two members were in attendance and enjoyed a delicious lunch catered by Morgan House. After the Pledge to the United States Flag, Dot Woodward led members in singing “God Bless America.”The devotion and invocation was given by Pat McGhee. Debbie C. Landers, President, introduced Joe Ward, AERA President, who spoke to members about TRS, PEEHIP, and other matters concerning retirees. His goals for AERA are: 1) to make sure that we retain an elected board for The Retirement Systems of Alabama; 2) to keep the integrity of the retirement reserves so they will remain secure and strong; 3) that out-of-pocket expenses for PEEHIP do not increase; and 4) that education retirees receive an occasional funded COLA.
